Now you might be thinking…

“Who is Eberechi Eze”

But let me explain.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or don’t live in the UK, you’ll know the FA Cup final (A big football game) was on last Saturday between an underdog Crystal Palace vs Man City who was expected to win.

“James, how does this relate to copywriting? I don’t care about football”

Long story short, the plucky underdog won! It was their first trophy in the history of Crystal Palace.

While it was a team effort, the man who was praised for scoring the winning goal was Eberechi Eze.

He gave an interview after the game, paralyzed with joy and lost for words.

He mentioned the fact he was rejected by Arsenal. Released by Fulham and Reading. Trials at Bristol City and Sunderland that came to nothing, and told by Millwall: "thanks, but no thanks." All before the age of 18.

Fast forward to 2025 and he’ll be remembered as the man to bring Crystal Palace there first ever major trophy.

The thing that got him to where he is today is by showing up, and believing in his abilities to one day make it. He forced his way to QPR, a small team from West London. He showed the world what he could do instantly.

He didn’t need to be at a huge club to prove he was worth something.

Its the same for copywriting, It doesn’t matter you don’t have a client yet or a shitty low paying client.

If you back yourself and show up when others hid, then eventually you will get your chance to shine. You just need a QPR to give you that chance, but to get that chance you need to be the best version of yourself.
