Jeremy Clarkson.

Here's what you can learn from Jeremy Clarkson as a copywriter.

Hi

I know for a fact that I’m the first person to start a copywriting email with “Jeremy Clarkson” but let me explain.

If you aren’t familiar with who he is then here’s a brief summary.

He started off as a writer for a car magazine even going as far as owning his own company. He went on to produce top gear which was another general car program, him and 2 other guys decided to elevate top gear into a world wide show that was loved by millions.

He now owns a farm in Oxfordshire, you can even watch him try and farm on Amazon prime, and has enough of a following to engrave himself as one of the UK goats.

But how does this relate to copywriting?

While he isn’t a copywriter by job title he certainly mastered some techniques that got him where he is today.

He first mastered his brand voice, he uses a distinctive, confident tone that makes his writing instantly recognizable. One of his famous quotes was “Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.”

After a learnt that, he would use a multitude of techniques to get himself recognized. He uses humor, outrage, nostalgia, and sarcasm to spark emotion which is essential in copywriting.

Storytelling (the most powerful sales technique) His car reviews and articles often tell stories, turning even mundane topics into engaging angles.

He also likes to exaggerate a lot, causing the reader to remember what he says whether it’s bad or good. “Driving this car is like being punched in the kidneys by God.”

Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that he is one of the most entertaining people on the planet. Even making people like me “A council estate kid” watch his farming program.

If you don’t get offended by much then honestly just watch some of the programs he’s in and you’ll be hooked.

This is how your audience should feel with your copy.

That’s all today, new YouTube video being recorded.

James
